How do I motivate employees?
I don’t see it as a right question. The question should be – “How should I stop demotivating them?”
If you are seriously looking for an answer to the first question, you should look into your hiring process where you need to ensure that you hire highly motivated and passionate people.
Coming to the second and original question – “How do I stop demotivating employees?”
I really appreciate the principle of “Inclusion”. Start including people in decision making and make them feel worthy. Ask them how they can contribute in betterment of the processes and what’s the best they can bring to it. Ask them if there is any person or process who is creating a road block in achieving what they can. Once you get to know about the causes, start working on them. Give them responsibility of what they are doing and find a reason to appreciate them. It works like a tonic.
Inclusion helps team members to be a part of the organization as a whole and it must be exercised at every level. You’ll see the magic happening sooner.
